‘The View’ is all about scrotums, but avoids a low blow on Hugh Grant Oscars Carpet Antics – Deadline

It was perfectly fine for View to talk about Hugh Grant and his resemblance to the scrotum on Thursday’s show. But talking about his conduct on the beige carpet at the Oscars was apparently forbidden, angering part of his audience.

Grant stopped by the show to promote the film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The actor opened up about how nervous he was as a presenter at the 2023 Oscars, where he reunited with Andie MacDowell, his co-star in Four weddings and a funeral.

This is where the scrotum joke came in.

“I was nervous. I wrote that joke and I was extremely nervous about it. I think I got away with it,” Grant said, referring to his comment that he looked “basically like a scrotum” in comparison to MacDowell’s unlined complexion. “Sigourney Weaver said to me afterwards, ‘You don’t look like a scrotum,’ and she liked the joke, so that relaxed me a bit.”

The View presented Grant with a bottle of moisturizer, with Whoopi Goldberg saying her joke was “funny as hell”.

While it turned out well, the elephant in the room was left unaddressed, namely Grant’s testy Oscars exchange with Ashley Graham. Grant gave terse responses to Graham’s efforts to joke around in showbiz on the beige carpet, clearly annoyed at having to endure it.

Although some kind of agreement has apparently been reached regarding Grant’s View appearance and line of questioning, social media was ruthless.

“Horrible you didn’t bring up Ashley Graham smh,” a user tweeted after the segment aired, summarizing the general reaction.

“Spineless no one asked about the Oscars red carpet interview,” another user tweeted.
