Because triples are the best, “I Think You Should Go With Tim Robinson” has finally set the premiere date for its highly anticipated third season, just under a year after Netflix announced its renewal.
And it just so happens that it’s set to debut on May 30, a day before the 2023 Primetime Emmy eligibility deadline, which means the six-episode third season of Robinson’s absurdist comedy series will be up for grabs. this year’s names on TV’s biggest night. .
Created and written by Robinson and Zach Kanin, Netflix promises that the third season of “I Think You Should Leave” will see the duo “bring their distinct comedy style and observational humor to the fore, continuing to poke fun at the most bizarre and mundane situations in life”. .”
News of the premiere date was revealed on Friday, as Robinson and Kanin are set to receive the Sketch Comedy Award at Varietyof the Power of Comedy event at SXSW.
Starring Robinson and Kanin, “I Think You Should Leave” is produced by The Lonely Island team Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, along with Ali Bell for Party Over Here, Alex Bach and Dan Powell for Irony Point, and Alice Mathias.
“The thing about ‘I Think You Should Leave,’ more than anything, is that Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin write every script themselves,” Bach said in an interview with Variety last April. “Basically, the majority of the writing process is between them. And they’re just waiting for the sketches to come to them. It’s just more about the writing really being what they want it to be and that’s what’s holding everything back. No delays, but that’s why we have long periods of time between seasons. And they also have other stuff going on. They don’t produce sketches like they may have done at “SNL.” They just won the second WGA award for Season 2, so it works. And so we’re like, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
In 2022, “I Think You Should Go With Tim Robinson” received its first Emmy nods, with a nomination for a short-lived comedy, drama or variety series and a win for Robinson as an actor in a short comedy or drama series. The show also won the 2020 and 2022 WGA Award for Comedy/Variety Sketch Series.
Happy Friday-day-night.
