Brooke Shields shares sexual assault story and blames herself

Brooke Shields

Shares a story of sexual assault

… blamed herself

Brooke Shields says she was sexually assaulted in her twenties – something she says she blamed herself for at the time … and will be discussed in more detail in her new doc.

The 1980s icon opened at Mag People ahead of her new Hulu project, “Pretty Baby,” which will be released next month. After previously teasing the fact that she was molested in her youth, she describes it here for the first time…and says it happened during her college years.

Shields says she was a recent graduate of Princeton and went out to dinner with an unnamed Hollywood executive, who she believed was going to land her a new acting gig…this after her career had somewhat stalled. It’s unclear where/when this happened – she doesn’t say.

Shields says he then invited her to his hotel so she could make a call – and she went with him. Once there, she claims that he sexually assaulted her… but does not go into details. All she says is that she didn’t fight back – and felt guilty afterwards.

Shields says of his thoughts at the time… “I kept saying, ‘I shouldn’t have done that. Why did I ride with him? I shouldn’t have had that drink at dinner.

She went on to describe her reaction like this… “It was really easy to dissociate because at that point it was old fashioned,” she recalled. “And because it was a fight-or-flight choice. Fighting wasn’t an option, so you just leave your body. ‘You’re not there. That didn’t happen.’
