Question 690 December 2009

Organising Safety Management Teams

We are considering the possibility of combining our two safety management groups into one and wonder how other companies structure their groups.

Currently we have a Health and Safety Management Team (HSMT) comprising of Senior managers with input from advisors (Fire, Occ Health and Safety Professionals) which is our executive safety management group, and a separate Safety Committee set up under the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees regulations (1977) which consists of TU representatives as well as members of HSMT and is our consultative committee.

Any input gratefully received.
