Company car drivers and car use policies

A member company wishes learn how other companies manage company car drivers and their cars specifically:

1. Do you allow company car drivers to lend their company car to their partner/spouse the majority of the working week, whilst the staff member users an older family car?

2. How are checks on documents for company car users done - in house (manager does the checking) versus information straight from the DVLC, with a charge.

3. Do you check documents for staff who use their own car on company business (such as licence, correct insurances, MOT, servicing, any training/awareness etc?

4. What is the policy for use of mobile phones, sat navs, general portable equipment?

5. What is your stop-over policy when travelling long distances, how far or how long in hours do you advise staff to stop rest or stop over in a hotel; what is the trigger point?

6. Have you had a serious road accident within your business within the last five years and has the company been investigated and prosecuted (appreciate you may not be able to share this one).
