Vehicle fleet monitoring by Telematics – reducing GHG emissions

Dear members

We have been asked to explain the term 'Telematics' in respect of the last question. Please see a definition at the end of this question. Can those of you who run vehicle fleets have another look to see if you can help,

Many thanks

The sheiiba team

What experience do other companies have for the use of telematics* on their vehicle fleet for reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emissions? Has it reduced GHG emissions? Was the fitting of the equipment cost-effective?

*Vehicle telematics: the use of computers and telecommunications to enhance the functionality, productivity and security of both vehicles and drivers by e.g. Fleet Management, Asset Tracking, Field Service Management, Field Sales and Trailer Tracking.
