Question 508 November 2006

Reach Trucks - ergonomic / design problems

Has anybody any experience of Reach Truck Operators complaining of poor ergonomics whilst using the trucks, with regard to neck and back strain from having to look sideways or lean out when driving and using the truck.

If so was any practicable solutions/actions taken to help reduce the problems identified?

Whether or not you have encountered this problem I would be grateful if you could indicate the estimated time the driver is in the truck per day to enable us to obtain a benchmark.

Many Thanks in advance!
