Question 490 September 2006

Ice and snow clearing - who does it, how etc?

I'm carrying out a review on our ice and snow clearing procedures and was looking to find out how other large organsations manage the issue.

The specific questions I have are :-

Do you have procedures in place for salting paths? If so how, how is this carried out?

Do you have procedures in place for salting car parks. If so how, how is this carried out?

Do you clear all the car park or just ensure the walkways in the car park are clear?

Who do you use for this service - e.g. local landscaping companies?

Do you have a policy/procedure you can share?

Do you know of any case law relating to staff slipping on ice/snow within a company's grounds.
