Question 399 December 2005

Establish competence standards for electrical and engineering staff

We are a multi site business. We want to establish generic competence standards for our electrical, engineering staff and contractors. We want to create a skill/competency matrix for "engineering /maintenance tasks", for everything from minor electrical work such as changing a plug , through rewiring a machine, to high voltage work. We also would like to do the same for engineering tasks be they mechanical, involve compressed gases and so on.

Has any member developed something they can share or already use such a tool which they would be happy to help us with.
