Storing / destroying Occupational Health Notes

A member writes:

“We have a storage problem with the Occupational Health notes of ex-employees. We want to scan the notes onto computer disc and destroy the original of the notes that have not been used for more than 5 years.
Do you or your OH colleagues know any reason why we cannot do this?"
