Question 806 July 2013

Surface water drainage to waterway pollution - ind. sites pre-1980s

We have a site which, when built, had no considerations built into the surface water drainage to offer any protection for preventing pollution.

My query is what other sites built in the same era (1960ís) are doing/have done to prevent contaminated surface water from entering local waterways? The pollution would be in the form of oil from car parks and minor oil spills across site as well as grit and sediment from roads.

Have retrofit solutions been applied and if so, what?
